Logistics CCC hosts Danish Flyver March
The Danish Flyver Ruck March (Flyvermarch) first began in began in early September 2021 and is a relatively new Danish military marching tradition created and hosted by the Royal Danish Air Force. Its purpose is to build camaraderie, honor service members, and provide a physically challenging event similar in spirit to the long‑standing Danish Contingent (DANCON) March.
“For our event, we decided to conduct it because it would provide an opportunity for the LOGCCC 26-004 class to come together one last time before we begin the capstone ICOS (Individual Concept-of-Support) assignment,” said Capt. Dante DiAngelis, Flyver march officer-in charge. “Compared to the Danish Contingent March, the Flyver allows participants to accomplish the march at their own pace to maximize opportunities to spread esprit de corps.”
According to Rucking Tough Website, the march commemorates the service and dedication of Danish military personnel and celebrates international military cooperation. In 2026, the event also aligns with the 250th anniversary of the United States, highlighting resilience, unity, and shared values.
The 20-kilometer (12.1miles) ruck to celebrate Denmark’s veterans’ association and Allied Partners is a morale-focused event that is not timed. However, there were rules: the march must be conducted on August 28 on a military installation; in uniform; and each individual carries a ruck sack with a minimum dry weight of 10 kilograms or 23 lbs.
More than 230 Fort Lee military members rucked building closer ties with each other. Upon successful completion of the 20-kilometer course, they receives an official certificate approved by the Royal Danish Air Force and Human Resources Command. Participants are approved to wear the Flyver Ribbon on their service dress uniform since HRC officially added the Royal Danish Air Force March / Danish Flyver to Table 1 of AR 600-8-22 (Military Awards).
